Multiple lockdowns in 2020-21 meant lots of time with lots of kitchen instruments. I wrote these songs to serve the kids at church and to help teach Bible truths during an anxious season. The project is an honest portrait of the times we were living through. If you fancy hearing some cleaner, mastered versions, feel free to check a few of them out on Soundcloud below.
God of Hope (Romans 15:13)
May the God of hope
fill you with all joy and peace
As you trust in Him
So that you may overflow
with great hope
by the power of the Holy Spirit
Romans 15:13!
So We May Believe (John 20:31)
Just at the end of John’s Gospel, we read,
“These things are written so we may believe.”
All of the stories and wonders we read,
these things are written so we may believe.
In Jesus, Messiah, the Son of God
And that by believing, have life in His name
And that by believing, have life in His name
John 20:31
Armour of God (Ephesians 6:13)
Put on the full armour of God
We put on the full armour of God
We put on the full armour of God
So we can be strong!
We put on belt of truth, and breastplate of righteousness
As our shoes, the promise of the good news
Shield of faith, and helmet of salvation
And the last is the sword of the Spirit
The Word of God, we believe and proclaim it
Jesus Christ is all I need!
Ephesians 6 verse 13
Do Not Be Anxious (Philippians 4:6-7)
Do not be anxious about anything
Do not be anxious about anything
But in any situation,
by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving
present your requests to God.
And the peace of God,
which transcends all understanding
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ (Jesus!)
Philippians 4, 6 and 7
We All Like Sheep Have Gone Astray (Isaiah 53)
We all like sheep have gone astray
Each of us has turned to their own way
But the Lord our God has laid on him, our sin
All glory to Jesus Christ, who paid the price,
we’ll praise him, woah
[Rap]
Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering
Yet we considered him a stranger, not an offering
But he was pierced for all transgression, he was crushed for all our sin
And the punishment that brought us peace was laid on him
He was beaten, he was tortured, but no words did he say
Like a lamb led to the slaughter, on the cross he was slain
Taking the pain, all our shame, every lie there’s ever been
Christ poured out his life unto death, and we are clean!
We all like sheep have gone astray
Each of us has turned to their own way
But the Lord our God has laid on him, our sin
All glory to Jesus Christ, who paid the price,
we’ll praise him, woah
[Rap]
Yet, even though it was the Lord’s will that he would die in pain,
Hope lost? No way! He didn’t have to die in vain
For in his resurrection and his life, we stand
and he’s now forever honoured at the Father’s right hand
And all of this was spoken through a prophet of old,
who with assurance and conviction, wrote the things he was told
With every word, God prepared the world for him who set us free
And made sure it was recorded in Isaiah 53!
We all like sheep have gone astray
Each of us has turned to their own way
But the Lord our God has laid on him, our sin
All glory to Jesus Christ, who paid the price,
we’ll praise him, woah
